How to confirm a company in Google?

Contents:

In order for the company to become available for users and to get full functionality (reviews, responses to reviews, statistics), you need to pass a mandatory confirmation for the right to manage the company, as well as for its reality of existence.

First you need to create companies and link them to Google through your BrandWizard personal account. You can read more on the creation of the company here. You can read about linking to Google here.

There are 3 ways to confirm the company:

  1. Through your BrandWizard personal account. You can read more here.

  2. Confirm company details using Search Console. You can read more here.

  3. Confirm company details by regular mail, by phone, through a real-time video meeting, by video or by email. To do this:

You need to log in to your Google account on the page business.google.com. To do this, click on the Sign in button and log in.

  • If there is no button, you are already logged in. Make sure you are logged in with the correct account. To do this, click on the user icon in the upper right corner.

  • If this is the wrong account and your company is not there, log out and log in with the correct username and password.

A list of companies will be presented on the Companies page. If the company is not confirmed, the status column will say Action Required. You need to click on Pass Verification in the appropriate line.

Then you should check the appropriate company profile from the list and click on Confirm.

You should choose a convenient way to confirm the company.

The system may offer one or more options for confirmation. Google automatically offers confirmation options available to the company based on the operation of the algorithm and the data that is available to it.

How to confirm company details by phone?

This confirmation option is not available for all companies.

  • If several options are displayed, click your phone number. In the drop-down field, click on Call.
  • If confirmation via telephone is suggested only, click Call.

Attention!

  • The call is made by a robot automaton, therefore the code will be dictated immediately after the connection with the number is established. If an answering machine is triggered on your side or you use a mini telephone exchange, the code will be dictated to the same robot.

  • The call is received only to the phone number that the system offers for confirmation. This number cannot be changed by anyone.

  • If the call is disrupted, the connection is not established or the code contains more than 6 necessary characters, you will need to order a letter. Most likely, there are technical problems.

The dictated code must be entered in the Enter Code field, and then you need to click on Confirm.

How to confirm company details by email?

Email confirmation is also only available to some companies. If you don’t see this option, choose another one.

  • If several options are displayed, choose by email.
  • If confirmation via e-mail is suggested only, the address field will be immediately displayed on the page.

The system will request an e-mail on the corporate domain of the company to be confirmed. Type only the e-mail name (left part until @), while the server domain name will be offered automatically. Then click Receive by e-mail.

After the email with the code arrives, it must be entered in the appropriate field.

How to confirm company data through a real-time video meeting?

If you're not sure you can handle video calls, contact your manager for assistance. You can read more about preparing for a call with a BrandWizard employee here.

Confirmation via video call is also only available to some companies. If you don't see this option, choose another.

To get started, prepare for the call:

  • Make sure that your mobile device can join a live video call. Our support representative helps you join the call.
  • Confirm that you’re at your business. Make sure you can demonstrate your location and ownership on the video call. For example:
    • Your current location: Show outside signs. Examples include your street’s name, nearby businesses or the area around your business.
    • Business or equipment: Capture your operations. Examples include stock for sale, branded equipment, marketing materials or tools that you use to serve your customers.
    • Proof of management: Show your access to employee-only items or areas. Examples include a cash register, kitchen, storage room or non-sensitive business documents. You can also use your keys to open your facility.

If there is a queue of people waiting for a response to the call, you can contact Google through the help center instead. They usually respond within 24 hours. Google may ask you for additional information.

  1. In the confirmation window, select Real-time video meeting and click Next.
  2. Choose a language.
  3. To start a text chat with a support representative, click Call.

Show your business via video call via a mobile device:

  1. When you’re ready, a representative helps you join a video call.
  2. To show your business location and ownership, use the camera on your device.

How to confirm company data via video?

Detailed instructions on how to record and send a video can be found here.

Main information about video verification

  • Verification occurs by filming one continuous video through the Google Profile Manager and subsequently uploading it. The directory does not allow the upload of a pre-prepared (and/or edited) video recording.
  • The length of the video should be between 30 seconds and 5 minutes, with an ideal length of 1-2 minutes.
  • The video must not contain Prohibited & restricted content, such as:
    • Confidential information such as bank account numbers, tax or identification numbers.
    • Other personal information about the user and other individuals.
    • Images of other people's faces.
    • Life hack: while recording the video as you move through your space, you can lower the camera to the floor to avoid including prohibited content in the frame.
  • Criteria for verification:
    • Location consistency, i.e., the address on the company card and in the video must match, and the user should not attempt to present one address as another.
    • Accurate information on the company card, i.e., it complies with placement rules and matches what is shown in the video recording (e.g., the name on the card completely matches the content of the sign).
    • The user’s affiliation with the business - the video contains proof that this user has a relationship to the business, i.e., has access to premises and devices that are not available to regular visitors.

Requirements for video for offline or mixed-type companies

Attention! Mixed-type companies serve clients at their address, as well as offer delivery of goods or services to homes. Example: a restaurant with food delivery service.

Requirements:

  1. Show your company's location. Film official street signs and house numbers, nearby enterprises, or the surrounding area to confirm that the company's location is correctly indicated in the company profile.
  2. Show evidence of your company’s existence. In particular, film its sign, storefront, or sales floor. Show the company name in the video on some stationary objects, such as a sign, wall, or window. The company name in the video must match its name in the profile.
  3. Demonstrate that you are an authorized representative of the company. Show that you have access to materials and premises for employees, record how you open the cash register or POS system, unlock the kitchen door, pantry, or staff area.

Requirements for video for a company serving a specific area

Attention! A company serving a specific area provides services and delivery not at its own address, but at the clients' addresses. Examples: locksmiths or plumbing repair specialists. If you do not serve clients at the company's address, do not list it on the "Information" tab in the Company Profile Manager.

Requirements:

  1. Show the address where you provide services. You can film signs in the service area that advertise your business, as well as street signs and other landmarks near the company. Avoid filming objects that could be located anywhere, as well as areas without signs that can identify their location.
  2. Show evidence of your company’s existence. Record branded work equipment, marketing materials, services, or products sold, as well as tools used to serve customers. It would be good to film you opening a van with your company's name, or show branded T-shirts for staff or clients.
  3. Demonstrate that you are an authorized representative of the company. You can record how you provide services or show business documents. For example, these could be company registration documents, invoices, or utility bills that include your company’s name.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Video not uploading:
    • The video is too long. The ideal video length is 1-2 minutes.
    • The internet connection is unstable. Check the reliability of the network and the quality of the connection. If you used Wi-Fi during verification, try again using mobile internet, and vice versa.
    • There is a malfunction with the device itself. Try repeating the verification process using another phone: you will need to record the video again, but using a different device.
    • An error occurred during upload. This happens, so just try again.
  2. Video rejected:
    • The video contained prohibited content:
      • Confidential information such as bank account numbers, tax or identification numbers.
      • Other personal information about the user and other individuals.
      • Images of other people's faces.
    • The video lacks sufficient evidence. Examples of issues:
      • The company name is not shown.
      • The surroundings are not shown.
      • There is no confirmation that you are authorized to manage the company.

Checklist “What to Show”:

  1. Evidence of Location:
    • Surrounding area.
    • Address sign.
    • Neighboring businesses.
  2. 1. Evidence of Company Existence:
    • Company sign (for offline organizations).
    • Displays, sales floor.
    • Branded equipment.
    • Branded van, uniform (for service area).
  3. 1. Evidence of Your Involvement:
    • Opening doors, cash register.
    • Office premises.
    • Demonstrating service provision (for service area).
    • Business documents (NOTE: ensure personal data does not appear in the frame).

How to confirm company details by mail (actual location of the company)?

You need to select the confirmation of the letter by mail.

  1. Enter the contact person who should receive the letter in the field.

  2. Verify the company’s address.

  3. Click on Mail.

After you receive a letter with a confirmation code, you need to log in to your personal account at business.google.com, select the company’s address to be verified, click on Enter Code and fill in the code specified in the letter.

Delivery may take from 14 to 26 days.

Attention!

  • You should not request multiple letters for the same location. Each request cancels the previous one.

  • Do not make changes to the company data: this will not be displayed in the Global Network in any way, but it may lead to a data conflict. Even minor adjustments, such as adding a description or adding hours of operation, can be perceived by the system as a change in the identity of the page. The PIN code is generated for a specific data set and may simply not be suitable if you make changes.

If you have not received a letter after 14 - 26 days, request a new code:

  1. Log in to Google Business Profile.

  2. Select the company whose details you would like to confirm.

  3. Request the code again.
