If access to Google Business Profile is lost, you should first create a new GBP account. Then confirm your rights to the company. To do this, you need to choose one of 3 confirmation methods.

Confirmation of the company after adding data via BrandWizard

You can add company data via BrandWizard. You can read more on the creation of the company here.

  • Then you need to open a page in the Google Business Profile service. In the menu, click on Businesses. A list with all companies will be displayed. Then click on the company with the Duplicate status.

  • Then click Request Access.

  • Next, you need to fill out the form and click Submit.

Attention! The current profile owner will receive a letter asking them to contact you, and a confirmation will be sent to you.

In some cases, instead of Request access you can see a message that the request for management has already been accepted.

In this case, you need to check the addresses of the created company and the duplicate:

  1. If the addresses are different, for instance, the same street is specified, but different houses, then this is a bug. You need to inform your account manager on this, who will write to support.

  2. If the addresses completely match, then you need to delete the unconfirmed company. To do this:

a) In the list of the companies, check the box next to the required location.

b) Click on Actions.

c) Click on Remove business.

Attention! There are cases when there are several locations at the same address, for instance, on different floors. In this case, it is necessary to specify the floor number in the address.

Confirmation of the company via the link in the card

  • If there is a Claim this business link in the company profile, then you should click on  it.

  • Click Manage now.

  • Then, you have to choose a convenient way to verify. Fill in the fields, if necessary, and click the blue button.

Confirmation of the company via Google Business Profile

If there is no link, then you need to find the company profile to request the rights of its owner.

  • Open business.google.com/add. Type the name and address of the company in the field, and then choose it in the search results.

  • A message will appear stating that the profile has already been confirmed by another user. If you have permission to manage the profile, you can request ownership from the current owner. To do this, click on Request Access.

  • Next, you need to fill out the form.

  • When everything is ready, click on Submit.

Attention! The current profile owner will receive a letter asking them to contact you, and a confirmation will be sent to you.

Further actions

The current profile owner must respond to your request within three days. You can check the status of the request in the Google Business Profile service, as well as by following the link in the confirmation letter.

  • If the request is approved, you will receive an email notification about it, after which you can manage the company profile in the Google Business Profile service.

  • If the request is rejected, you will receive an email notification about it, but you can continue to offer corrections to the profile. In some cases, it is possible to appeal the result of consideration of the request.

  • If the response has not been received within three days, you can confirm ownership of the profile yourself. To do this, you should:

  1. Open a confirmation letter on the request.

  2. Find your request and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm ownership. Another option is to log in to the Google Business Profile service and find the Claim or Verify buttons on the control panel.

Understand new owner and manager limitations

The new owner or manager of a Business Profile must wait for 7 days before they can manage all the features. During this 7-day period, they get an error if they:

  • Delete or undelete a profile.
  • Remove other owners or managers from a profile.
  • Transfer primary ownership to themselves or a third user.

If the new owner or manager deletes their account within the first 7 days, they’re removed from the profile. If they change their mind, they must be added again.

Attention! If an existing owner or manager tries to transfer primary ownership of the profile to a new owner or manager still in their first 7 days, they get an error.
